Yotainment Graces ‘We The Women’ Conclave Curated By Barkha Dutt

The door is a metaphor. And that is exactly what ‘We The Women’ is all about. The biggest festival which is of, by and for Women and curated by former renowned NDTV reporter Barkha Dutt was held in Mumbai, Bandra yesterday. The forum saw Bollywood attendees from Tahira Kashyap to Alia Bhatt. The red door represented women who break the walls of society.

Yotainment had the opportunity to grace We The Women conclave curated by Barkha Dutt. The event takes place every year, and facilitates special recognition and accolades Indian women with ‘We The Women’ award who have broken boundaries in all the fields.

The highlight of the event included a panel discussion on Indian society’s limitations on women in politics. Highly-prolific Women from political backgrounds spoke at length about sexism. BJP National spokesperson Shania and National Spokespersons of Indian National Congress Priyanka Chaturvedi discussed at length about women in politics.

Actress Alia Bhatt broke down before her sister Shaheen Bhatt shared her ordeal dealing with depression and suicide. She graced the event to talk about her new book.

Bollywood director Karan Johar graced the occasion with his presence and spoke about societal pressures gays experience. He also opened up about his ordeal regarding coming out of the closet.

Topics surrounding rape were openly discussed. 2012’s Famous Nirbhaya rape case was discussed in CO-relation with recent rape cases that are increasingly coming to light. The recent rape case of Priyanka Reddy which shocked the entire nation were extensively discussed.

Miss Malini, Bollywood entertainment blogger took the lead addressing the panel discussion on fashion. Speakers included Anaita Shroff, fashion director of Vogue, Sandeep Khosla, fashion designer Sandeep Khosla, Abu-Jani fame. They spoke at length about fashion integrating with feminism, self-identity, confidence and gender disparity.

Cancer survivors, Tahira Kashyap, Sonali Bendre and Lisa Ray graced We The Women to talk about their ordeal, surviving with cancer. Tahira spoke at length about her depression and her staggering mental health,

Netflix fame Radhika Apte graced the panel discussion alongside Rohini Iyer

Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif spoke about insecurities and how to deal with them. She also spoke about her beauty line KayBeauty.

On the work front, Karan Johar has a string of projects ahead of the year including the most awaited films of all time Kalank, Taqt and the Hindi remake of a hit Tamil movie.
